This article is written primarily for those who believe in the Bible as being the infallible divine authority as the Word of God and who are familiar with the beliefs of the SDA faith.
The Bible itself declares that the Word of God is the divine Son of God in the person of Jesus Christ.
John1:1-5 (KJV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Revelation 19:13
And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Ellen G White states in Desire of Ages p 1 &19
By coming to dwell with us, Jesus was to reveal God both to men and to angels. He was the Word of God,—God's thought made audible.... “By coming to dwell with us, Jesus was to reveal God both to men and to angels. He was the Word of God,--God's thought made audible.”
Clearly if there is some perceived discrepancy between what the Bible teaches or what Jesus taught by His teachings and example, Christians (disciples of Jesus) are required to follow Jesus. Christians must put all doctrines through 'the Jesus filter' to ensure they are not being deceived by doctrines of devils.
Sadly, many Christians, like the religious leaders in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus' death on the cross, chose to believe the writings 'as they mis-interpreted them,' the meaning of which was very much against the true teachings of Jesus.
